Durahold Rug Pad has long been known as the original non slip rug pad made in the USA. While most rug dealers, interior designers, architects, rug collectors and homeowners choose Durahold for the way it protects their rugs and floors, not many people think of it as a way to prevent moisture damage. We recently received a message from a customer who puts Durahold on an even higher level of protection.
Nancy has been using Durahold under all of her area rugs for more than twenty years. The family recently adopted a puppy and one of the first concerns she had was for the well being of her rugs and floors, as puppies are known to come with "accidents". Well, in very little time, pup "Rocky" put Durahold to the test. Nancy came home from work one day to find two of her rugs "blessed" by Rocky - Very distinct areas of wetness on each rug, so Nancy knew exactly the cause. While she remembered she needed to scold the puppy, her first concern was for the condition of the hardwood floor underneath the rugs. So, she immediately called her son to help her pull back each rug to determine the extent of the damage.
On top of each rug was a very wet area, so Nancy thought the floor underneath was affected. Upon pulling back the rugs and Durahold pads, Nancy was confronted with a very big surprise - The floor underneath was completely dry! Looking at the lower layer of rubber within the rug pad, Nancy could see the darker area that was holding the urine, thus being wet. She and her son both looked at each other in amazement as they initially expected to be on hands and knees wiping the floor dry. However, after seeing the protective affects of Durahold, they both realized there was no work to do and they were completely satisfied at what they saw - The solid layer of rubber within the Durahold rug pads absorbed the accident and kept it from penetrating to the floor.
The next few hours involved Nancy and her son removing the rugs and pads to clean them outside. As much work as this seemed for them, they were both extremely pleased and felt very fortunate not to have to deal with any floor damage - The hardwood floor was recently refinished after fifteen years of solid use, so protecting them was a top priority. When Nancy sent us this message with her story, she also let us know that she has told everyone she knows who has a pet that if they need to protect the floor under any area rugs, it better be Durahold rug pad that they place under those rugs!
